  Simon began his career in Retail Banking, spending 4 years at NatWest within service marketing.  He has spent 11 years in database management, the last 8 ½ of those years at Sky where, as Head of Database Management, he has overseen Sky’s transition from the tactical use of data for fulfilling outbound marketing campaigns, to the development of a team of 17 responsible for the strategic use of data to drive both in-bound and out-bound customer interactions.  Simon is responsible for the creation and development of Olive, a comprehensive Customer and Prospect Marketing Datamart which has driven down the cost of acquiring new customers onto the Sky base.  His current focus is on redefining Sky’s focus on Customer Centric Direct Marketing.

• Managing Director, Countrywide Principal Services

  Alan qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in Manchester. He joined his family’s estate agency business in Lancaster which grew to become Reeds Rains and was sold to Prudential in 1986. Alan became Professional Services Director of Prudential Services Ltd in 1987 and Operations Director of Halifax Estate Agencies Ltd in 1990.  He joined Countrywide in 1998 to set up the Franchising Division and was appointed MD of Countrywide Principal Services Limited, Countrywide’s regulated entity, in 2006. Alan has an MA in Japanese from Cambridge and a BSc in Estate Management. His interests include skiing, golf, wine, Japanese gardening, landscape painting, and England rugby.

  Julia Toni is Marketing Director for H Bauer Publishing, Publisher of some of the UK’s top-selling Women’s Weekly and TV Listings magazines, including Take a Break, that’s life!, Bella, TVChoice, TVQuick and Total TVGuide.  Julia has worked in the publishing industry for eighteen years, starting her career at Financial Times Business, she also worked at IPC Media prior to joining Bauer.  Whilst at Bauer, Julia has been responsible for overseeing the launch of the Take a Break, that’s life! and TV listings websites and has also overseen the installation of a group marketing database.

  Michael started his career as a Research Officer for Statistics New Zealand, before heading to the UK in 1992, where he worked as a Data Analyst for Saatchi & Saatchi Direct. In 1994 he moved into managing the data operations for b2b publishing company, Miller Freeman plc. He now heads up Data Management for Fundraising and Supporter Marketing at Cancer Research UK.

Neil’s Private Sector experience is predominantly in the Engineering Sector, where he ran Aerospace Companies, in both the UK and the US. Ged has extensive international experience gained whilst working in Europe and North America.

  John Bache has been working as the Customer Database Manager at Kia Motors (UK) Ltd in Weybridge, Surrey since August 2006 following vary Direct Marketing roles at GUS, Gray & Osbourn and John Armit Wines. Having recently managed a database host move to allow greater visibility and analysis of customer and prospect data collected through various customer touch-points, John is able to support the CRM and Dealer Marketing teams by providing an understanding of the customers Kia have and the prospects they are attracting and to prepare and analyse all DM activity through Apteco’s FastStats software.

  Craig stared his career with Texas Instruments where he became European Direct Marketing Manager and then moved to Dallas as Global Database Marketing Manager.  On returning to the UK, after a brief period with Acxiom, he was responsible for building AXA Sun Life’s customer database before moving up to be Head of Knowledege Management.  He is currently responsible for B2B CRM operations and customer data at Vodafone.

  I have worked in the stationery industry for the last 16 years, and have been responsible for integrating 14 companies customer data into core systems, due to growth by acquisition. Currently responsible for providing 400 sales associates with statistical data, and development of analysis data for business intelligence managers and analysts.   Andrew Bridges joined Loyalty Management Group in November 2004 as Data Quality & Supplier Manager. His main responsibilities focus on full end to end data management procedures including managing and controlling the quality of the Nectar database, operational business processes and supplier management including all data processing and data capture suppliers. He has a wealth of experience within the data arena and has actively been working with data for more than 10 years. Prior to LMG, Andrew worked for VNU one of the biggest business publishers in Europe.

  Belinda Pearse is a Data Manager for Yell responsible for the acquisition and management of new business data. Her role entails profiling and performance analysis of new and existing data sources; integration of data across various business systems; database and data quality management; data cleansing; leveraging knowledge of business processes and systems to ensure the business makes the most of its data; identifying opportunities for improvements and savings; working with the business to acquire data to support new initiatives. Belinda has also worked within Yell as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst. Previous roles were in Local Government and the NHS.

  Gemma has worked within marketing and data management for the last 5 years. She starting out helping a leading, independent vending company develop the capabilities of its marketing database, in order to establish a competitive advantage in an increasingly consolidating market.

   

  After a brief spell setting up a reporting system allowing senior management to make information led decisions, Gemma moved from B2B communications to B2C.  She is now CRM Executive at Cumbria Tourism, helping them to establish CRM as part of their marketing strategy in order to retain loyal visitors and attract key target segments to the area.

  Liz worked at the National Theatre in various marketing roles; then briefly with the UN on the first Mozambican General Election, before travelling through East Africa.  She landed her first job at Comic Relief in 1995.   Working to the CEO, she was involved in many and various projects such as managing an application to the Millennium Commission for a comedy theme park, and the publication of two JK Rowling books.  After a secondment to the volunteering charity, TimeBank, as Campaign Manager, Liz returned to Comic Relief to take up the position of CRM Manager, a position she has held since 2002.

  Natalie Burns graduated from Glasgow University with an MA (hons) Business Degree before joining MyTravel. She took the position of Marketing Executive at Direct Holidays, the direct sell arm of the business, in 2002. Here she executed Direct Marketing Campaigns to increase customer acquisition and retention and was responsible for all UK & Eire Response Handling. In 2007 she joined Santander Private Banking as Marketing Manager, where she has responsibility for Direct Marketing, CRM, Campaign Management and Events.

• Data Manager, British Gas Services

  Saif Khan was born in Peterborough. He graduated from Leicester in 2000 and gained an MSc in Business Computing from University of Northampton in 2003. Saif has held data management positions at Anglian Water and Telewest.

  Prior to joining British Gas Business Saif was Group Database Manager for Azzurri Communications where is was involved in a number of M&A’s and subsequent data integration.

  Saif joined British Gas Business in May 2007 and has responsibility for data management and data development. He has recently led the customer data integration of Bizz Energy Ltd following its acquisition.

  Martin currently heads up the Data Mining & Analytics team within Marketing for UK General Insurance at Zurich covering personal and commercial lines.  Specific areas of interest include data analytics/mining, modelling, segmentation, prospect pooling and driving the business forward based on insight.  In addition to this Martin is responsible for the relationships with 3rd party data and analytics solutions providers.
  
  Prior to working for Zurich Martin spent 6 years working in data analytics for Capital One on their card, loan and savings portfolios.

  I’m currently Head of Stewardship for Sue Ryder Care and have overall responsibility for all supporter contact data.  I lead the direct marketing and customer service teams. I’ve previously worked in Regional and Hospice fundraising and have been in the charity sector since leaving university in 2000.

• Head of Marketing, Mortgage Next Group

  Carol Gress is Head of Marketing for the Mortgage Next Group, an intermediary mortgage distributor.  Carol has held various marketing and event management roles throughout her career both on the client and agency side.

   

  Prior to joining Mortgage Next, Carol was Director of Strategic Accounts for the OutSource Group, managing the provision of marketing campaigns for clients such as Dell, Nortel and Cisco.  She was also Director of Marketing for Guardian Royal Exchange’s direct sales arm.

   

  Carol lives in Surrey, is married to a west coast American and has an 8 year old son.  She enjoys travelling and entertaining.

  Martin is Data Quality Manager at the Co-operative Financial Services.

  Martin has been in position since August 2008 and prior to his appointment was a Business Analyst within the CFS Business Intelligence Competency Centre. He has over 8 years experience in data related fields. The Data Quality team, which he manages, are responsible for the logging and implementation of data policies and he has accountability for fixing non compliant data. He is responsible for ensuring that data capture processes are fit for purpose, and in taking remedial action where processes are seen to be flawed. Martin works in conjunction with the Data Governance function as an advocate for good data practice.

  Andy joined the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) as Knowledge & Information Manager in May 2007.  The Knowledge & Information team are currently responsible for a data quality improvement initiative within the ‘in-house’ CRM solution (part of the SSAT’s on-going Information Improvement Programme), implementation of an MS SharePoint document management solution, a Data Protection compliance audit as well as corporate reporting and analysis.  Previously Head of Enterprise Applications at King’s College London.  Andy has 20 years experience of managing CRM and other business related applications, reporting solutions and project management

  Dara, who has extensive experience of launching and developing home shopping propositions is currently MD of N. Brown subsidiary House of Bath, where he is leading the team in the transformation and growth of the business.

   He previously held senior roles at Littlewoods, N.Brown and Derby House. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing and on the Advisory Board of The Catalogue Exchange.

• Data Quality Analyst, Hutchison 3G UK

  Kelly O’Dwyer is the Data Quality Analyst for Hutchison 3G UK. As part of the Business Intelligence team, her main role is to define and implement the data management strategy at Three, as well as to protect and leverage the quality of the business data. Kelly’s main areas of responsibility are metadata and reference data management.

   

  Kelly has worked for Three for nearly 6 years and prior to joining CTO, specialised in Commissions and Billing Operations. She has a wealth of experience in data management and ownership within a telecoms environment.

• Database Manager, Marks and Spencer

  Stuart is the Database Manager for Marks and Spencer, joining the company at the end of 2008. He is responsible for the management of all customer data supporting direct marketing activity, including targeting, analytics and data acquisition. In addition to regular direct marketing, M&S also run one of the UK's largest loyalty programmes. Prior to joining Marks and Spencer he was Database Manager at Kuoni Travel where he oversaw the implementation of a global CRM system to bring together Marketing, Sales and Customer Service data into a single customer view. He previously spent a number of years working within the mail order industry.

• Senior Markeing Manager - Customer Data, Tesco

  Neil began his career as a Statistician at the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys. He then moved to Tesco where he held a number of roles in their Site Research Unit with a focus on developing end-user systems and databases to support the evaluation of sites. Neil then moved over to the Marketing function where he held roles in both their Insight Unit and Clubcard function. During his time in the Insight Unit, Neil set up and managed an internal team of analysts working with Clubcard data. He also work closely with dunnhumby in developing a number of core customer segmentations that are widely used within the Tesco business. Over the last 5 years, Neil has worked closely with dunnhumby to jointly develop a CRM solution to support the needs of the Tesco business. His current role is Senior Marketing Manager for Customer Data with key areas of focus being Clubcard data quality improvement and data governance.

  Ron currently works as an analyst in BA’s Customer & Commercial Insight department support the data needs of the Executive Club loyalty programme.

   

  In his long and varied career which began in 1968 as Aircraft Technician with BEA, Ron has worked 18 years in IBM as a computer customer engineer, a systems programmer/analyst, a data processing manager, a marketing information centre manager, a national marketing database manager and marketing programmes manager. 

   

  Since leaving IBM in 1993, he has been a financial advisor (Hill Samuel and Allied Dunbar), a telemarketer, consultant and database manager with a small marketing company (Marketree), a PC engineer (Haven Communications), a ‘Year 2000’ project manager (Speedwing), an IT & Network Services Manager (Speedwing & Amadeus) and a database consultant (BA Relationship Marketing)

• Principal Consultant, Enterprise Data Management, Steria

  Phil is a Principal Consultant, Enterprise Data Management with Steria, the leading end-to-end IT services provider in Europe for companies which consider new technologies a vital part of their business strategy. Since joining Steria in 2006, Phil has been responsible for managing the creation of a Customer Billing and Contact Management Database for a water utility in parallel with the rapid expansion and simultaneous outsourcing of these business processes. Prior to joining Steria, Phil spent 15 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers delivering a variety of large data management projects.

  Andrew has worked with data in the charity sector for 10 years and is Data Integration Manager at Cancer Research UK.  He is currently working on a project creating a single supporter view of the charity's supporters

• Business Intelligence Manager, Arco Ltd

  Danea has worked in marketing since 1989 and now runs the Business Intelligence Unit at Arco, Europe’s largest supplier of safety clothing and industrial equipment.
  
  The Business Intelligence Unit has two teams – Customer Information Management and Business Insight.  These teams cover master data management, segmentation, campaign selection and targeting, analytics, store location, strategy development, data acquisition, competitor and market insight.

   

  Danea has developed the Business Intelligence Unit from the ground up, starting in 2001 with the creation of the Customer Information Management function.

   

  Prior to working for Arco, Danea worked in retail as a store manager and in advertising as an account director.

• Business Change Programme Manager, RS Components

  Chris began his career in Engineering for The Boots Company PLC spending 10 years in a variety of industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, facilities management, distribution, power generation, retail and FMCG. He then spent a further 7 years as a Product Development Manager for a distributor of digital coding equipment. Chris currently works for RS Components as a Business Change Programme Manager and has delivered a number of initiatives including a global IT rollout, customer experience strategy and an environmental culture change. He is currently working within Marketing to implement a European Customer Master Data Programme designed to transition RS from a tactical to governed data organisation.

• CRM Project Manager, Advertising Standards Authority

  Jo Fulford recognised the need for a CRM database for industry contacts upon joining the ASA in 2006 and has since project-managed the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM v3.0 and its integration with other ASA and CAP data sources.  This project has resulted in the transformation of numerous data sets into a single database shared by teams across marketing, events, press office, public affairs, policy and advice functions.  Previously Jo worked for Notting Hill Housing Trust and Christian Aid in the realm of database fundraising.

  ACO Building Drainage is a division of ACO Technologies Plc. and part of the worldwide ACO Group. In total more than 3000 people are employed in 30 countries throughout the world. I joined the company in October 2008 as a Product / Market Co-ordinator. The main responsibilities are: manage, implement and input customer classification scheme on database, collecting data from field staff; research potential customers and target markets, instigate direct marketing initiatives to target customers, manage lead generation and liaise with field sales; assist Marketing Manager with day to day response management. Before joining ACO Building Drainage, I was working as Office Manager/Sales Support and Business Development Assistant in the last few years.  In 2007 I have successfully completed my Master’s degree in Industrial Marketing and Management and before that my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• MI Solutions Manager, Friends Provident

  After graduating with an MSc in IT, I started my working life within the MI Team of the Friends Provident IT department, responsible for the delivery of data and reports to the business. I then joined the Data Warehouse project team, first as an ETL developer, and then later as IT project manager. I moved from IT into a business role 4 years ago, supporting the delivery of campaigns, and analysis and segmentation of customer and distributor data, before taking on the role of Business Project Manager for the delivery of a new revenue and cost datamart. In 2008 I took up my current role, MI Solutions Manager, responsible for MI strategy, governance and development, and the operational maintenance of our MI systems.

  Guy has considerable experience working across all aspects of direct, database and digital marketing over a period of twenty years. He is a fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing.

   After graduating with a BSc Honours in Business Information Systems I started my short and varied career. After gaining the essential skills I moved into a more intense role as a Business Data Analyst for Dunelm, where I helped implement the companies’ new SAP system. I now work for Wesleyan where I am a Marketing Database Analyst, providing essential data to the business while implementing their new Apteco’s FastStats Discoverer software, which will allow Wesleyan with a unique combination of speed and power to provide analysis, data visualization, campaign management and data modeling with ease.

  Data Acquisition manager for BT Retail working within Consumer and B2B markets. Responsible for purchasing strategic and ad-hoc data from external suppliers and driving through internal projects for the collection and improvement of customer data. Currently involved in large project to bring many sources of customer data together into a single database. Have been with BT for over 20 years in a number of roles ranging from financial forecasting to IT project management.

• Customer Insight Capabilities Manager, British Gas

  Graduating from Swansea University EBMS with BSc Business Studies in 1992, June’s first role was to set up and manage the Marketing department and database for a London based Printing Group. From there, she moved to Mardev, growing new business and existing clients. Data Planning and Business Systems Consultancy roles followed at EHS, GGT Direct, Wunderman and Carat. June was also Client Services Director for Amethyst Group CRM Division, running a sizeable Database, Analytics and Marketing Operations Team.

   

  Having been at British Gas since the middle of 2005, June’s role has encompassed significant strategic data and systems projects, most recently, managing all aspects of development, implementation and transition for the new Marketing Database, MIDAS hosted by EIM. In achieving this, a significant level of business change has been required, in particular, building and enabling a business led Team who now take responsibility for day to day management, change implementation, commercial and strategic planning for the new platform under June’s leadership.

  Jackie Whitehead has been Database Marketing Manager for Time Life since June 2007.

  Time Life market home entertainment products to several European countries through direct marketing channels including TV and telemarketing.

  Jackie is responsible for all aspects of data management and strategy across Europe.

  She has developed and implemented a new market segmentation scheme and plays a key role in defining customer contact strategy.

  Prior to joining Time life Jackie had many years’ experience of Database/Direct Marketing with Readers Digest.

  Elaine is a Data Channel Consultant with over ten years experience in Sales and Commercial Management at Royal Mail.  Elaine's experience in value chain analysis within the mailing industry has given her detailed insight into how to maximise value creation and minimise costs. She focuses on increasing data sales within existing and new re-seller partners by developing new solutions, propositions and products in conjunction with specialists in and outside RM, which can be introduced to re-sellers and their clients, to win new revenue streams and increase the DM share of the total media spend.

  Prior to working in the Management Information team I worked in the Underwriting function. I have a SQL programming background and my main responsibilities are providing Zurich Commercial business with their regular and ad-hoc information needs. Recently I have been involved in assessing MDM solutions for Zurich and formulating the Data Governance and Data Quality policy and structure for the UK Business unit. I am currently working as a Subject Matter expert on a project looking to replace the existing Zurich Commercial Datawarehouse.

  Nikil began his career as a graduate at the Co-operative Group and spent 4 years within Brand Marketing specialising in Space Planning for the retail stores. He then moved to M&S and has spent the last 4 years in the CRM team, the last 2 years heading up the Data & Analytics team within Marketing with particular responsibility for the customer databases, selections & segmentation and analytics (web & offline). In addition he manages the budgets, IT programmes and is responsible for the relationships with 3rd party data and analytics solutions providers.
